Deja Nycole is a Black woman who has a strong appreciation for the arts such as–dance, photography, poetry, theater, and videography. Growing up in the Washington metropolitan area, the arts and culture of the DMV have been a huge contributor to her outlook on life.


Deja Nycole (she/her/hers) is a documentary storyteller who best expresses herself through photography and poetry. Her intention is to document, reflect upon, and share the beauty and stories within the African Diaspora. She is deliberate in doing the work to create space for stories that need to be told from the eyes and mouths of people who are a part of the African Diaspora. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing poetry, and baking red velvet cakes, while exploring her own healing and spirituality through meditation and mindful journaling.


Through Vuja De Studios, she helps people hold onto their favorite memories by capturing moments that will last a lifetime.


Deja will obtain her Master's of Arts degree in New Media Photojournalism from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in May 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in Journalism and double minors in Dance & Photography, from High Point University in High Point, NC, in 2018.
